Who we are

President of the Board of Directors: Donna Ting

Long-time Maui resident and the owner of Tri Isle Realty & Development Company Inc. since 1972. Honored in 2016 as Maui's “Housing Hero" by the Maui Homeless Alliance for providing housing opportunities to those who might otherwise be overlooked or denied working directly with the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department to get veterans, particularly those who are disabled, into housing. She is the National Association of Realtors 2017 honorable mention winner of the Good Neighbor Award that honors realtors across the country who have made a difference in their communities through volunteer work. She has also served on a number of local nonprofit boards, including the American Cancer Society, Maui Historical Society and the Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center, as well as La'akea, the nonprofit organization she co-founded two decades ago.

Executive Director: Andrea Rodgers

Serves as the Vice Chairperson for the Maui County Commission on Persons with Disabilities with thirteen years Medicaid Waiver management experience having founded and licensed La’akea, Bridges and now Maui Hope as Department of Health Medicaid Waiver agencies. Having completed the 2015 Customized employment training at the Center on Disability Studies for the University of Hawaii using the tools from the training including Discovering Personal Genius, Job Development, Benefits Planning Query and Business Feasibility, she has helped many adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD) find and secure lasting employment. She is a Weinberg Fellow recognized for non-profit leadership excellence, a 2022 panelist at the Pac Rim Conference by the Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawaii segment: Expanding Hawaii’s Capacity to House and Support Individuals with I/DD, an advocate and mother of an adult son with autism.

Service Supervisor: Annie Joya

Over the course of the decade, Annie has worked in the non-profit sector and with adults on Maui with developmental disabilities. She has acted in various program management and leadership capacities at several non-profits on island, including, Pacific Cancer Foundation, La’akea and now Maui Hope. Annie holds Bachelor of Arts from the University of Roehampton London. She is motivated by the impulse to advocate for the I/DD community with her strong understanding of what is true dignity in the 21st century. She knows participants deserve the highest level of care, independence and community inclusion. With Maui Hope, Annie is dedicated to help create a new approach that will support individuals with developmental challenges in realizing their best possible lives. 

Service Supervisor: Nicole “Mo” Kramer

With more than 15 years in this field, Nicole “Mo” Kramer has worked as a Clinical Technician at Odyssey Learning Center, a private school that specializes in working with children with high behavioral disabilities, followed by work in their adult program as site manager. As program manager at Capital Social Services and program manager at La’akea she has maintained and improved the quality of all services provided. This included staff training materials, creating standard operating procedures, scheduling participants with consistent staff, hiring qualified employees, monitoring data collection and goal progression, creating accessible goal methods and activities for participants, managing all required documentation, working with families and case managers, and being available for support for all of the employees and participants.
